NY1 honors WDFH founder Marc Sophos

WDFH Founder Named New Yorker of the Week by NY1

NY1, Time Warner Cable's 24 hour New York City news station, has selected Marc Sophos, founder and executive director of WDFH Westchester Public Radio, as its New Yorker of the Week.  The interview with Marc was broadcast on NY1 on Friday, June 15, around 9:45 p.m. as part of the program "The Call," hosted by John Schiumo.

The report was broadcast on NY1 during the weekend of June 15.

Marc was selected for this honor based on his work on WDFH's groundbreaking LGBTQ youth program, OutCasting, which is produced and hosted by LGBTQ youth and straight allies from the lower Hudson valley.  The show addresses the issues LGBTQ youth face on a daily basis.

Serving the lower Hudson River valley, WDFH is Westchester’s only public radio station and is operated solely by a small group of volunteers.  The nonprofit and non-commercial station relies on donations from listeners, businesses, and foundations.  WDFH broadcasts at 90.3 FM, reaching central and northern Westchester, eastern Rockland, and southern Putnam counties.  The station can be heard anywhere online.  Programming includes a freeform mix of pop, rock, jazz, and folk plus locally hosted public affairs programs as well as news programming from the Pacifica Radio Network including Democracy Now and CounterSpin.  Visit WDFH.org to access streaming audio, podcasts, and program schedules and to learn about volunteering or making a tax deductible contribution.
